HEAVEN IS COUNTING ON YOU - ON ALL OF US Love Turns Lethal / Heaven Prevails
ISBN: 1-4137-5034-6
In the third and final series, LOVE TURNS LETHAL, HEAVEN PREVAILS, the characters reunite one last time. Joy is mixed with sadness when a camp for handicapped children is begun and near tragedy happens. The youths want to help with the children. Jeff warns them that if any of them are caught sneaking off or shirking their duty to the child assigned to them, they would go back to the detention center. At the disappearance of two youths and a handicapped child, Jeff risks his life in a thunderstorm to find them and falls from a horse. He lies in the mud, blood pooling under his head as the horse runs away.
Again, Johnny’s faith is tested as his son, Todd becomes ill and the family is called in to see him one last time. In heaven, Todd runs with a little girl, Chrissy. He sees Jesus and wants to be there forever. Jesus tells him he is welcome to stay as long as he wants to. After Todd receives the comfort from all of the things that have affected his young life, he realizes that there is something different now. Heaven’s Mission begins all over again when he accepts a mission just for him. Years later, he will realize the full extent of that mission. A birthday gift turns into a lethal weapon. When Carl Benson’s picture is taken and submitted to the newspaper as a surprise, the very thing he has dreaded from the time he became a police officer is about to unfold. The former undercover officer leaves town. He loves his friends too much to put them in the danger he knows awaits him. However, an old enemy (Stanley Hopkins) comes to Bethel looking for Carl. Johnny realizes, too late, the danger his family is in and his daughter, Jenny, is caught in the middle. Finally, God speaks to His servant one last time. The beloved Jonathan Barns realizes it is time to “get his house in order”. He kisses his wife goodbye and goes for a walk. Each in their own way knows it will be the last time. At Jennifer’s request, Johnny goes to the church and finds him. Jonathan places the entire “flock” under his care. When the time comes for Johnny to read the eulogy, he is unable to do so and the Lord, Himself delivers the eulogy. The highest praise a mortal could receive is offered. As the reader can see, the life of each character poses a real life situation that many experience first hand. It is the desire of this author that those who feel they are beyond hope will somehow be able to see the Lord working behind the scenes for their good and catch a glimmer of what is in store for them whether in this life or the next. As Jennifer Barns said of her husband: “What higher praise could anyone receive from the throne of heaven? He pleased God. May that be said of all of us.” AMEN
